All autobus companies (PO) are obligated to patch stickers on their buses to inform the official tariff of the bus. Therefore, candidate passengers, especially those in Pulogadung Terminal, East Jakarta, would not need to worry for POs raising bus tariff arbitrarily.

The public can report to us if POs were asking for surcharge arbitrarily. This is because surcharge has been regulated through Transportation Minister Regulation No. 64/2013

Head of Pulogadung Terminal, Muhamad Arafat, said the stickers must be patched on front glass of the bus as well as inside the bus where passengers can read it easily. If the POs violated the maximum tariff set by the government by charging surcharge, they will get firm sanction from Jakarta Transportation Department. The sanction can be in form of written reprimand, warning letter, until operation permit revocation.

“The public can report to us if POs were asking for surcharge arbitrarily. This is because surcharge has been regulated through Transportation Minister Regulation No. 64/2013,” he stated, Monday (7/21).

Moreover, Arafat informed the maximum tariffs of some inter-city inter-province (AKAP) economic buses. For Jakarta-Pekalongan the maximum tariff is Rp 68,900, Jakarta-Tegal Rp 56,900, Jakarta-Padang Rp 252,200, and Jakarta-Medan Rp 352,400.

“The residents who felt harmed by POs that raised tariff arbitrarily can report to us. Record the name of the POs, their routes, and police license plates to ease officers in taking action,” he told.

Meanwhile, some of POs management admitted resign with this regulation. Although they assessed it is not favoring them, they will still obey the regulation.

Tapid (31), a caretaker of PO serving route Jakarta-Cirebon, uttered that homecoming season is supposed to be the harvesting season for bus crew because it only happens once a year.

“However, the government has issued the regulation about the tariff, so we have to obey it,” he expressed.
