Tens of Plainclothes Personnel Deployed to Monitor Bus Tariff

As we know, approaching homecoming season, many otobus companies (PO) try to rise the tariff of the economic class bus and is not in accordance with the government's procedure. Therefore, Jakarta Transportation Department deploys tens of personnel in some bus terminals.

"We deploy our plainclothes personnel to conduct espionage. If there is found violation, we will immediately revoke the operation permit," said Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, M Akbar, at City Hall, Thursday (7/17).
According to him, based on Transportation Minister Decree No. 64/2013, bus tariff for region I heading to Sumatera, Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, is reaching Rp 99,000 per kilometer for minimum tariff and Rp 161,000 for maximum tariff.

He added that most of the passengers or homecomers are reluctant to use other PO buses. Yet problems are often happened during homecoming season, like buses carrying passengers stuck on the Pantura lane. Thus, they are late getting to Jakarta which led to passenger surge in the terminal.
"I urge the homecomers do not picky when riding the bus, considering Jakarta Transportation Department has prepared 400 supporting buses," he asserted.
