City will Continue to Preserve and Advance Betawi Cultural Art

Jakarta Provincial Government is going to give special attention to Betawi cultural art. Moreover, there are now bylaw No. 4/2015 on Betawi cultural preservation, and Gubernatorial Regulation No. 229/2016 on the implementation of Betawi cultural preservation.

Not only art and culture, the city will also concern on the education and economy of Betawi people

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Sandiaga Uno expressed the city will continue to synergize with Betawi people and figures to preserve and advance Betawi cultural art.

"Not only art and culture, the city will also concern on the education and economy of Betawi people," he said, during a halal-bihalal post-Ramadan gathering along with Betawi Association (Bamus Betawi) in one of restaurants at Jalan Cipinang Cempedak I, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, Monday (6/18).

According to him, the Bamus Betawi figures gave input on the need for jobs creation related to the preservation of Betawi culture in the next five years.

"It can be done if the regulation is already complete," he exclaimed.

He hoped this momentum could bring progress to the preservation of Betawi culture, especially in the face of the upcoming Asian Games.

"Betawi will be the one of the host cities of the Asian Games. It will become Jakarta's historic," he said.
