Security Measures in City Hall Tightened

The 2014 presidential election result which will be announced by General Election Commission this afternoon at 4 PM, Tuesday (7/22), makes the police and TNI conduct security measures. Some vital objects in the city are tightly guarded, including the City Hall on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta.

There are additional personnel from Indonesian Police Headquarter and City Police. From Indonesian Police Headquarter there are 100 personnel, while City Police deployed two platoons (a platoon consists of 30-50 personnel). They have been on guard since this morning

Based on beritajakarta.com observations at City Hall, one water cannon is put on standby while hundreds of policemen are on guard. In addition, all visitors are obligated to walk through metal detector before entering City Hall area.

“There are additional personnel from Indonesian Police Headquarter and City Police. They have been on guard since this morning,” stated on duty platoon commandant at City Hall, Triharso.

Prior to Pilpres Result Announcement, Jakarta is Conducive

Besides police and TNI personnel, Satpol PP personnel are also guarding the City Hall.

“We deploy 400 personnel in City Hall, 150 personnel in KPU office, 50 personnel in Election Monitoring Board (Bawaslu), and 50 personnel as well at Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout,” told Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santoso.
