Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama asserted that he will stop monorail project in the capital city if until upcoming August PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) still not submit the cooperation proposal to Jakarta Provincial Government. According to him, this plan has been informed to Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo in a closed meeting at City Hall this morning, Wednesday (7/23).

“Mr. Jokowi agrees to cancel monorail project. We wait until August, what the design would be like. If the design unreasonable or (PT JM) cannot fulfill the requirements, we cancel monorail,” stated Basuki.

Even though Jakarta would probably not have monorail, he guarantees Jakartans would not be lacking of mass public transportation. This is because if monorail was really canceled, it will be replaced with Light Rail Transit (LRT).

“I’ve informed Mr. Jokowi about the LRT,” said Basuki.
