The attitude of Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama, on PT Jakarta Monorail (JM PT) begins to soften. Basuki has given extended time to the next two months for PT JM to complete all requirements of the monorail construction in the capital city.
We decided to give a letter and give two months to complete PT JM’s answers about the capital, architecture, and traffic studies
"We decided to give a letter and give two months to complete PT JM’s answers about the capital, architecture, and traffic studies," said Basuki at City Hall, Friday (6/6).
He said that his party needs time to review the project plan from the architectural aspect primarily pole range measurement where the monorail’s track across the protocol street.
Monorail Could Be Shut Down, City Brings LRT"Speaking of architecture, can you control a pole? Such building so high how many meters the pole takes? It should be counted from the architecture angle. What if abandoned? It distresses us," said the former Regent of Bupati Belitung.
The City government, added Basuki, also needs to know the traffic study for the construction of the monorail to reduce the traffic congestion, including similar studies after the monorail completed to be built.
"Can you imagine a station building takes 150 meters long pole? Is it strong with only one pole, impossible, isn’t it? There's no way one pole could do it. If you want two poles, how can they build on the road? Spend a whole road? It means that all roads covered by 150 meters, right?" he questioned.
According to Basuki, PT JM has not explained a lot to city government yet, eventually it seems they cover all the information about the monorail development. "For example, Tanah Abang will be built a depot or station that is so big, the pole could be 2.5 meters. The question is, is there an area of that big? It covers a lot of road," he continued.
He added that the city government will take a decision if within the next two months PT JM also cannot finish the proposal. "If they cannot get to meet the deadline, so we will decide they are not able to do it," said the former member of the House of Representatives Commission II.
