Bima Arya Handed OPCC and We Love Cities Award to Anies

The One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) and We Love Cities Award was officially handed over from Bogor Mayor, Bima Arya to Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan at Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Thursday (7/19).

This year we are proud to present this award to Jakarta Province

The city government became the best after competing with 50 cities finalists out of 21 countries to grab the prestigious award from World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan expressed that the award became an indicator if residents increasingly have a sense of ownership and love the city.

Jakarta is The Winner of We Love Cities 2018

"I see there are 164,000 interactions of food and statement via global indicators of sustainable cities. This is evidence of Jakarta residents often interact. We love each other, so we will feel each other, as does this city," he expressed.

Through principal of reduce, reuse and recycle (3R), Jakarta would be much better.

"We make this as a campaign that we love our city. Jakarta can be proud, this is the most lovable city on the planet today, this is an achievement in itself," he exclaimed.

Bogor Mayor, Bima Arya expressed his appreciation to the city for the achievement that was previously grabbed by Bogor City.

This achievement means a change to the city with sustainable development well supported by its residents.

"This year we are proud to present this award to Jakarta Province. May Jakarta can provide more benefits and assistance for the surrounding cities," he said.

While, Indonesian WWF CEO, Rizal Malik added that efforts to tackle climate change could not be done at the national level alone, but requires a more active participation in the urban level.

"Our challenges in fighting climate change, maintaining ecosystems and natural resources knows no limits. Jakarta is an inspiring example of a city that takes this challenge seriously," he stated.
