SPKU Operated at Kemayoran Athlete's Homestead

Jakarta Environment Dept. is operating the mobile air quality monitoring station (SPKU) to monitor air quality at the 2018 Asian Games venue in Jakarta, including the Kemayoran athlete's homestead.

It is installed at the Kemayoran athlete's homestead on August 2-September 17, 2018

Previously, SPKU was operated around Jakarta International Equestrian Park Pulomas (JIEPP) and Padang Golf Pondok Indah for a week.

Odd-Even Policy Expansion Considered Effective to Improve Air Quality in Jakarta

Every 30 minutes, the device will provide data for parameters of PM 2.5, CO, NO2, Ozone, SO2, and meteorological data. After being collected, the data is processed by the server that is on the environmental laboratory (LLHD) UPT and then informed as air pollution standards index (ISPU).

That index describes the condition of ambient air quality in certain locations in accordance with the impact on human health and the environment. If ISPU has a value of 0-50, the air quality will be categorized as 'Good', meaning that it does not have an impact on human or animal's health.

"If it has 51-100, it will be categorized as 'Medium' air quality, meaning it has no effect on human or animal health, but affects sensitive plants," he explained.

Then the index with 101-199 will be categorized as 'Unhealthy' whereby it is detrimental to humans or groups of animals that are sensitive or can cause damage to plants or aesthetic values. While the index with 200-299 will be categorized as 'Very Unhealthy', namely air quality that can be detrimental to health in a number of exposed segments of the population.

As for the index with 300-500 will be categorized as 'Danger', namely dangerous air quality that can generally harm serious health in the population, such as eye irritation, coughing, phlegm, and sore throat.

"Its results will routinely be informed to the people every day at 3 PM through a display board in Jakarta local environmental laboratory, Jakarta Smart City website and Jakarta environmental service website," he said.
