Flood inundates Hundreds of Houses

Heavy downpours poured Jakarta and its surrounding areas on Saturday (7/26) night, led to flooding in some areas. At RW 05, Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, Kebon Jeruk Sub-District, West Jakarta, hundreds of houses have been inundated with water level between 3-60 centimeters.

Flood has inundated many houses and citizens' items could not be evacuated due to the owners have gone for homecoming to their hometown

Chairman of RW 05, Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, Sumardi disclosed the flood happened on Saturday (7/26) night after Pesanggrahan River overflowed around 3 AM.

"Flood inundates RT 02, 03, 04, 05, 013, 014, and 016. The number of houses in our residential is more than 400," he expressed, Sunday (7/27)

He told that there has been no evacuation because most houses have two-story. "Flood has inundated many houses and citizens' items could not be evacuated due to the owners have gone for homecoming to their hometown," he statued.

Lilies, (40), a citizen of RT 03/05, Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, whose her house flooded as high as nearly 50 centimeters admitted, she had done flood anticipation by evacuating all valuables to the second floor of her house.

"The weather is erratic. That's why, I and other residents have been saving our valuables to the second floor," she exclaimed.

Head of Kebon Jeruk Sub-District, Mursidin disclosed that his side has done monitoring the area and coordinated with Social Sub-Department, Satpol PP, urban village ranks and other related units to evacuate and distribute food, public kitchen to flood victims.

"There has been no evacuation. We also have coordinated with related units to help flood victims," he uttered.
