374 Animals Vaccinated in S. Jakarta

South Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Tenacity (KPKP) Sub-dept. has vaccinated 374 animals that can transmit rabies (HPR). This vaccination is done to commemorate World Rabies Day.
In commemoration of Rabies Day 2018, we vaccinate 374 animals in South Jakarta
South Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept. Head, Wachyuni said rabies is one of Strategic Infectious Animal Disease (PHMS) or Zoonotic diseases of 25 main PHMS that becomes priority for national control.
Because rabies is a disease that can spread between provinces, regions, and national. Moreover, it has high economic impact and threat to health.

She explained, vaccinated animals are consist of 95 dogs, 272 cats, five monkeys, and two ferrets.
Since 2004, Jakarta's status is a rabies-free area determined by Agriculture Minister Decree No. 556/Kpts/PD.640/10/2004 about the statement that Jakarta, Banten, and West Java are free from rabies.
