Under Klender Flyover will Be Turned into Interactive Park

Post-raid against street vendors under Klender Flyover, East Jakarta Administration plans to transform the park under the flyover into an interactive park and children’s playground for local residents. Later, it will be a pilot park in East Jakarta.

As for the street vendors, Krisdianto said they will be relocated to Jaya Klender SS Market near the flyover or another market, like built landscape (lokbin).

Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, Nandar Sunandar, informed that the park under Klender Flyover will be conceptualized in such a way, so its functions would be optimal.
“We’re going to build two futsal (indoor soccer) fields, a skateboard field, and a community hall since the area has a large number of residents,” he uttered.
According to Sunandar, his department will conduct evaluation and analysis first before starting the project. To smoothen it, he has asked East Jakarta Parks Sub-Department to make time work schedule. And in the next few days, the analysis and budget calculation will be done.
“For the initial stage, we will build fence and repair the broken fences. The road will be narrowed, thus street vendors’ carts cannot get in. The park will also be equipped with wi-fi and short park benches. If the park benchers were long, they will be used for couples go on dating. The benches will be made of cement, so scavengers would not take them. I will also negotiate with the CSR parties to build outdoor fitness in the park. We want to do it in detail, that’s why analysis and evaluation are needed,” he explained.
