4,000 Sorting Plastics Prepared for W. Jakarta Residents

Around 4,000 sorting plastics are prepared for the program of integrated waste management village (KPST).

This program will start by the end of October that aims to reduce household waste volume

Those plastics will be distributed to the people in eight RTs and sub-districts in West Jakarta.

Environment Dept. Asked to Socialize Use of Eco-friendly Bag

West Jakarta Environment Sub-dept. Head, Edi Mulyanto disclosed that the program has involved 60-80 households from each RT pilot in each sub-district.

"This program will start by the end of October that aims to reduce household waste volume," he expressed, Monday (10/22).

It is hoped could develop up to all residents in West Jakarta thus they can sort waste in their homes.

Thus far around 777 public waste banks and 1 main waste bank have been operating in West Jakarta with a turnover of Rp 4 billion. Whereas inorganic waste successfully sorted through a waste bank in West Jakarta is around 10-12 tons out of 1,300 tons of waste every day.

"Reduction of the selection process for inorganic waste is targeted at around 18 percent of the total volume produced by West Jakarta residents," he uttered.
