W. Jakarta to Develop IPAL to Minimize Rotten Smell

A waste treatment plant (IPAL) will be provided in the near future in a bid to minimize rotten smell from some rivers.

So the flow from people's homes is collected and processed into raw water

West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. Head, Imron stated that some IPALs were built at some points, yet its existence is still uneven.

IPAL Constructed in Lancang Island

"To realize it, we will spend more than Rp 1 billion," he expressed, Wednesday (10/24).

He explained that the river processed with IPAL could reduce rotten smell. It can even become raw water that can be used by residents. For example is like in Damkar Cengkareng Flat and Kalideres and Bambu Larangan villages.

"So the flow from people's homes is collected and processed into raw water. Household wastewater is processed to be clean," he said.

His party also plans to construct a IPAL in Cibubur River, Krendang, Tambora, West Jakarta to reduce the smell of river water. Yet, development has not been realized because of high budget.

"It's just expensive technology and constrained by land to put water treatment equipment," he stated.
