24,000 Fishermen Affected by Diesel-fuel Limitation

The policy of diesel-fuel limitation for as much as 20 percent, which issued by the Regulatory Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas (BPH Migas), has made 24,000 fishermen in North Jakarta, disappointed. With this policy, they will be having trouble to operate their boats and go on fishing.

Besides limiting diesel-fuel purchase in gas stations (SPBU) in Central Jakarta, BPH Migas applies the same in two Fishermen Diesel-fuel Filling Stations (SPDN) and seven other gas stations spread in three locations in North Jakarta.
One of two SPDNs is located in Cilincing. If previously its diesel-fuel allotment was 288 kilo liters per month, now it only gets 259.2 kilo liters or decreasing 20 percent. Inevitably, it affects to 24,000 fishermen spread in fishermen centers in Muara Baru, Muara Angke, Kamal Muara, Kali Adem, Kalibaru, Cilincing, and Marunda, and a total of 3,826 boats.

“Before the limitation, turmoil was already happened among the fishermen who were jostling to get diesel-fuel. We’re currently discussing on how to react to this diesel-fuel limitation,” he stated, Friday (8/8).
Meanwhile, Head of North Jakarta Poultry, Fishery, and Maritime Sub-Department, Sri Haryati, admitted that based on the meeting done with PT Pertamina, the limitation of subsidized diesel-fuel will also be imposed to the fishermen.
“Based on the letter we received, this policy is effective since last August 4. However, PT Pertamina was just socialized it to us yesterday,” she uttered.
According to Haryati, in North Jakarta there are 6,628 fishermen who own Jakarta ID Cards (KTP) while 17,760 others do not have it. From that amount, it is predicted that the effects of diesel-fuel limitation would be felt by 18,656 fishermen in Penjaringan Sub-District.
