Park Fences at Jalan Raya Bogor Broken by Street Vendors

We had to re-install the fence in a bid to prevent street vendors. If we ignore, the parks and lanes around Jalan Raya Bogor will be rundown and dirty

An effort of Ciracas Sub-District to install fences along Jalan Raya Bogor, ran aground. This is because the fence as long as 150 meters has been broken by street vendors who sell in the parks and lanes around Jalan Raya Bogor, especially from the Keong's traffic light next to KFC Gongseng.

The fence made from barbed wire was installed by sub-district ranks last June. Unfortunately, its existence is missing and broken by scavengers and street vendors. Hence, sub-district returned to re-install the fence as long as 150 meters at the same site, despite it is still leaving 500 meters.

Preventing Street Vendors, Tens of Flower Pots Put Along Sidewalk

Responding on this matter, Head of Ciracas Sub-District Romi Sidharta admitted that Jalan Raya Bogor is very strategic for street vendors to trade as many vehicles pass the road for 24 hours.

"We had to re-install the fence in a bid to prevent street vendors. If we ignore, the parks and lanes around Jalan Raya Bogor will be rundown and dirty, considering vendors often throw trash haphazardly in the Baru Riverbank," he expressed, Sunday (8/10).

He hoped East Jakarta Parks Sub-Department to immediately overcome such matter. Moreover, the fence cannot be installed permanently due to lack of budget. Principally, we deliberately put up the barbed wire to sterilize the place from street vendors.

He also asks street vendors not to set up stalls along Jalan Raya Bogor anymore because it has disturbed public order.
