Jakarta Ready to Integrate Public Transport

Jakarta Provincial Government is ready for integrating public transport with regional administrations of Greater Jakarta areas or Jabodetabek.
This integration is made to facilitate citizens and encourage them to use public transportation
Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan conveyed his readiness at the limited meeting which was held together with Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi); Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla; West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil; and Banten Governor, Wahidin Halim on Tuesday (1/8).
"Principally, Jakarta is ready and Mr. Jusuf Kalla assigned me to review about president's instructions in detail. First, I want to optimize transport integration or arrangement in Jakarta," he said, Wednesday (1/9).
City Public Transportation Integration will Be EnhancedHe explained to his subordinates that central government wants transport plan that can be integrated with transportation in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas.
"We need to do some improvements soon thus our transportation planning reflects the regional planning," he mentioned.
According to him, transport integration between Jakarta and Greater Jakarta areas will give positive impacts, especially to overcome traffic congestion and minimizing losses
."This integration is made to facilitate citizens and encourage them to use public transportation," he stated.
He informed that Jokowi also suggested Jakarta Government to manage fully several national roads in Jakarta. Because Jakarta Government only took over management of 25 from total 38 national roads in Jakarta from central government.
"It is related to national road management, not asset ownership. Later, Jakarta Transportation Dept. can also use it to facilitate road users through traffic regulation," he added.
