Jakarta Provincial Government will stop providing official state cars to echelon II, III, and IV officials. As replacement, those officials will be given transportation allowance ranging from Rp 4.5 million until Rp 12 million per month.
The salary of Jakarta Provincial Government’s civil servants should have been the same with salary of oil company employees. As high as possible
Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama explained this policy is taken after seeing some officials no longer use their official state vehicles and take public transportation instead to go to office every day.
“It’s useless we rented Corolla Altis Rp 9 million per month for officials but they never use it. It is better you take the money and it becomes incentive for employees in structural positions,” he stated, Thursday (8/14).
Basuki: If You Wanted to Help, Be OfficialsAccording to Basuki, he does not mind about many allowances received by the civil servants in Jakarta at this time. Giving high salary can be done to get competent employees and minimize the problems exist in the city.
“The salary of Jakarta Provincial Government’s civil servants should have been the same with salary of oil company employees. As high as possible. The salary in private companies in average is Rp 35 million for managers and Rp 70-75 million for directors. If you were echelon II officials and wanted salary Rp 50 million or Rp 75 million, why can’t be?” he uttered.
Basuki also admitted that he has asked Jakarta Personnel Board (BKD) to immediately implement a dynamic regional performance allowance (TKD).
“It has been done. The system has not been made yet. I want dynamic-based TKD. Transportation allowance is only a saving. The City Budget Amendment (APBDP) is already okay, running (effective) in September or October. You can take the (official state) car or the cash money,” he said.
The amount of transportation allowance given to the civil servants is varied. For echelon IV officials like section heads, sub-division heads, and urban village heads, they will receive Rp 4.5 million per month. For echelon III officials that include division heads, sub-district heads, and sub-department heads, their transportation allowance is Rp 7.5 million per month. For echelon II officials in the level of department heads, bureau heads, and mayors, they will get Rp 12 million per month.
Some of the officials in Jakarta Provincial Government who no longer use their official state cars are Head of Governor’s Team for Development Acceleration (TGUPP) Taufik Yudi Mulyanto, Head of Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Andi Baso, and Head of Jakarta Transportation Department Muhammad Akbar. Mulyanto cycles every day to the City Hall, while Baso and Akbar use commuter line.
