Certified Buildings will not Be Demolished, Basuki Says

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama revealed that the certified buildings spread on the banks of the Krukut River, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, will not be demolished.

Prior to demolishment, we'll check out the building first whether the owner has certificate or not. If they had certificate, we would not disturb

"Prior to demolishment, we'll check out the building first whether the owner has certificate or not. If they had certificate, we would not disturb," said Basuki, at City Hall, Monday (8/18).

He acknowledged many permanent buildings and apartments are located close together, even clinging to the edge of Krukut River. Whereas, the site should still include water areas.

Demolition of 50 Illegal Buildings Went Intense

"Many of rivers' inspection roads are already certified. We didn't make certificate, even though we gave information before. But forget it and we will fix it," he uttered.

Former regent of East Belitung added that demolishment is not only focused on buildings in slums but also riverbanks and inspection roads which would be used as alternative road.

"Certainly, if the building owners have certificate, we will not do demolishment," he stressed.
