Kite Festival Postponed

The Kite Festival which scheduled to be held on August 17 is postponed to Sunday (8/31). The postponement is conducted because the initial schedule was coincided with Indonesia 69th Independence Day anniversary ceremony at the State Palace.

“Yes, I got a call from Jakarta Provincial Government on Saturday (8/16) night that the Kite Festival had to be postponed because of the Independence Day anniversary ceremony at the State Palace,” told Head of Central Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department, Wednesday (8/20).

Although postponed, Triyugo said it does not loosen the spirit of the event organizer to make it a success. As a matter of fact, Kite Festival this year will be more festive than previous years because this time the amount of participants will not be limited.

“Previously, each urban village can only send two representatives. This year there is no limitation, the participants can also those who live outside Jakarta. Particularly for Central Jakarta, from 44 urban villages here, each sends two delegations. They are all ready to compete on August 31,” he stated.

Triyugo also hopes this festival would attract tourists from domestic as well as foreign countries. While to attract people’s interest to take part in the festival, his party has prepared some money as prizes.

“First winner will receive Rp 5 million, second winner Rp 4 million, third winner Rp 3 million, first runner up Rp 2 million, and second runner up Rp 1 million,” he informed.
