Basuki Hopes Governor Inauguration Conducted in Plenary Meeting

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed that the president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has announced his resignation after the inauguration of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) members period 2014-2019 on Monday (8/25). Basuki hopes he could directly be inducted concurrently with the DPRD's plenary session.

"We just wait for DPRD member inauguration, where its process does not require letters anymore or something," said Basuki, at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (8/22).

Jokowi: My Resignation Letter Being Processed

He disclosed such inauguration will be held on Monday (8/25). Regarding this matter, he has also communicated with Jokowi. "I've communicated with Mr. Jokowi. He would file a resignation letter after DPRD members are inaugurated," he expressed.

He hopes Jakarta DPRD period 2014-2019 will hold a plenary meeting to discuss Jokowi's resignation and then inaugurate him (Basuki) as Jakarta Governor.

If not, Basuki will again be Acting Jakarta Governor temporarily. "But I don't know it for sure, whether the DPRD will focus on Mr. Jokowi's resignation first or all at once. Supposedly, it's conducted concurrently," he expressed.
