Lahan Banyak Belum Dibayar, PKL Masih menjamur

Auto-Debet Payment System Applied to Street Vendors in KBT

An Auto-debit payment system will be implemented to hundreds of street vendors (PKL) who traded along the East Flood Canal (KBT). Later on, the identification cards would be distributed to them. As the initial stage, the number of street vendors are now being inventoried by the Duren Sawit Sub-District.

The number of street vendors in Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit, Malaka Jaya Urban Villages is 490 people and will increase Rp 1,000 people on the weekend. No wonder, these areas are prone to traffic congestion

Head of Duren Sawit Sub-District, Abu Bakar expressed his side is currently conducting inventory, particularly for vendors in Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit, Malaka Jaya, and Malaka Sari Urban Villages. This is because its existence along KBT towards such urban villages is quite a lot.

"The number of street vendors in Pondok Bambu, Duren Sawit, Malaka Jaya Urban Villages is 490 people and will increase Rp 1,000 people on the weekend. No wonder, these areas are prone to traffic congestion," he told, Monday (8/25).

Ignoring Agreement, 12 Locations of Guided Street Vendors Closed Down

After inventory process, trade could only be conducted by vendors who already have Jakarta ID card and DKI Bank account. It aims to anticipate vendors surge from outside Jakarta, namely Bekasi, Bogor, and Tangerang. "Every day, we will collect Rp 5,000 using auto-debet system. In addition, the vendors also get a loan by Rp 5 million. The money will deposit to Jakarta Provincial Government's treasury," he explained.

Additionally, his side along with the KBT Technical Management Unit assisted by army and police would conduct monitoring. If the vendors trade on the street, they will be given warning until sanction by revoking trade permit.

"Hopefully, they can trade orderly and not violate the rules. If not, we will revoke their trade permit," asserted Bakar.
