Jakarta Beat Society to Brighten Up City's Anniversary

To celebrate the city's 492nd anniversary, the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency is set to kick off Jakarta Beat Society in the Lapangan Banteng, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, which fall on June 28-30, 2019.

We plan to invite Grammy Award winner, Chris Berry who will give a performance

It will be an event to display various musical genres, ranging from traditional Betawi music to popular music.

This is the first time to be held. It is not only involving local artists, but also internationally.

City to Hold Various Events to Enliven Jakarta's 492nd Anniversary

"We plan to invite Grammy Award winner, Chris Berry who will give a performance," expressed Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency Head, Edy Junaedi, Friday (6/21).

He explained that all artists who performed at the event represented a variety of genres, for Betawi music, namely Gambang Kromong and Keroncong Tugu.

Then for modern music, there will be INO Ensemble from Jakarta and Hio Hop Kupang from East Nusa Tenggara. There will be Nina Ria and later Just Fine who will bring indie music which is popular among urban youth.

"We also have African, America and Europe group musicians namely, Supa Kalulu, DJ Kamau and Helga Violin," he stated.

On the first day, the event is scheduled to be held at 7 PM by displaying a dance and on the second and third day at 10 PM-12 AM.

"This is free of charge for public. Besides music, we also have a talkshow," he stated.
