West Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-department cooperates with Education Sub-department I and II to intensify waste reduction program as one of Regional Strategic Activities (KSD) that is regulated in Governor's Decree (Kepgub) No. 1042/2018.

"We are targeting 200 thousand students to be our new waste bank customers. Currently, we have 22,600 students from 126 Adiwiyata schools who have joined as waste bank customers," said Edi Mulyanto, West Jakarta LH Sub-department Head, Monday (8/5).

"There are total 800 schools from elementary to senior high schools in West Jakarta. In order to achieve our target, we will socialize waste reduction program in schools," he mentioned.
According to him, waste reduction by sorting waste also benefits the locals economically. Especially for students, money that they obtained from sorting waste to the waste bank will be transferred to their bank accounts.
"We have total 655 Waste Bank Units (BSU)s in 8 sub-district. We can reduce waste by 19 percent by reducing waste from its source and sorting waste via waste bank. We hope we can reduce 30 percent of waste in 2020," he explained.
