Reducing Plastic Bag Use, LH Department Holds Eco Qurban Challenge

During Eid al-Adha, Jakarta Environment (LH) Department encourages people to use eco-friendly containers in distributing qurban meat by holding Eco Qurban Challenge. For the result, Tunas Muda Care Foundation won this challenge and it will receive one goat as the prize.
Hopefully, this eco-friendly movement can be done more massively for the next years
Jakarta LH Department Head, Andono Warih informed, Tunas Muda Care Foundation is a philanthropic institution of young people who coordinate sacrificial animals slaughtering in several locations in Jakarta and package qurban meat in thousands bamboo baskets.

His side appreciates Jakartans, especially qurban committees who were enthusiastic following Jakarta Governor's Instruction No. 4/2019 that regulates Qurban Animal Slaughtering for Eid al-Adha 1440 Hijri/2019.
"I appreciate all sides who have participated in this movement. We also found communities who donate bamboo baskets to several mosques," he expressed.
According to him, bamboo basket is considered good to replace plastic bag that is usually used to pack qurban meat since it is made from environmentally friendly material.
"Besides, we can also help economy of bamboo basket makers in rural areas. Hopefully, this eco-friendly movement can be done more massively for the next years," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Tunas Muda Care Foundation Director, Hendra also appreciates Jakarta LH Department for their innovation to hold Eco Qurban Challenge because it makes Eid al-Adha becomes more meaningful.
"Eco Qurban Challenge encourages us to concern more about our environment by reducing plastic bag use," he conveyed.
