Tabebuya Plantation in Central Jakarta for Better Air Quality

In this sidewalk arrangement program, later government will plant medium-sized trees with height under 10 meters, have roots that not damage sidewalk facility construction, have colorful flower, and able to absorb pollutant. Tree is also equipped with buffer around it and flowering shrubs that can absorb pollutant such as bougainvillea are planted under the tree.

"Shady trees that will be planted in Cikini are tabebuia trees with pink flower. Under it, we will plant ashoka. Our purpose is to reduce pollution because those plants could absorb pollutant from motor vehicle immediately. Thus polltant on the lower level could be absorbed by shrubs and pollutant on top level could be absorbed by shady trees," explained Suzi Marsitawati as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference on Thursday (9/12).

For information, flowering shady trees and shrubs planting will be done simultaneously with sidewalk facility arrangement carried out on Jalan Cikini Raya.

Her side hopes this arrangement could beautify Cikini area, make the area be more neat, and reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
