City to Purchase Henk Ngantung's House

We ordered for buying the Henk Ngantung's house. As planned, we want to make the house as Henk Ngantung Park. We've budgeted for the purchase of the house

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to buy a house belongs to former of Jakarta Governor period 1964-1965, Henk Ngantung, located at Jalan Dewi Sartika, East Jakarta. It aims protect the historical legacy left by Henk Ngantung. Eventually, the old house will be a cultural park of Henk Ngantung. 

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama justified a request from the late Hetty Evelyn, a wife of Henk Ngantung to change the house becomes culture house.

"We ordered for buying the Henk Ngantung's house. As planned, we want to make the house as Henk Ngantung Park. We've budgeted for the purchase of the house," told Basuki at City Hall, Friday (9/5).

Yet Jakarta government is still waiting for approval of Henk Ngantung's children related to the home sales. This is because, his party cannot impose such desire.

"We cannot do coercive them to sell the house. If it's not approved, it's okay. Actually we were not asking to buy the house but its owner. I hope they agree to sell the house," he hoped.

The former Regent of East Belitung disclosed that the intention of Henk Ngantung's wife to sell house is able to be remembered by all the parties. Yet, if the house is sold to another party, its historic value will be lost.

"Yes, people will know who is Henk Ngantung, about its history and life. We want to highlight the memories," he expressed.

As reported before, Ngantung Henk's wife was died at the age of 75 years old due to high blood pressure and lung, on Wednesday (9/4) at around 7.30 PM at the UKI Hospital, Cawang, East Jakarta. The body then brought to Gatot Subroto Army Hospital for further buried in Menteng Pulo Cemetery.
