“Yes, we are having short of towing cars. Next year we’ll propose for the procurement of 20 towing cars. But, hopefully 50 towing cars could be approved,” stated Head of Jakarta Transportation Department Control and Operational Division, Syafrin Liputo, Monday (9/8).

According to Liputo, the price for one automatic towing car is Rp 2.5 billion. Thus, a total of Rp 50 billion is needed to buy 20 towing cars. For that, he makes sure that the towing cars to be purchased have good quality.

Illegal Parking Rampant, West Jakarta Needs More Towing Cars

“The existing towing cars are Hino,” he told.

At this time, Jakarta Transportation Department only has 42 towing cars which consist of 14 automatic towing cars, 2 large towing cars, and 26 manual towing cars. Ideally, each region should have 10 automatic towing cars considering illegal parking is rampant in the capital city.

“Each region should have 10 automatic towing cars at least. So, 50 towing cars for all regions in Jakarta,” he uttered.
