Jakarta Provincial Government’s plan on imposing tow and Rp 500 thousand fine sanctions to drivers who parked their vehicles haphazardly seems will be going to meet some obstacles, which one of those is lack of towing cars. As a proof, West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department until now only has one towing car. Whereas, illegal parking is rampant in the municipality.
At this time, we only have one towing car. Whereas, ideally there should be two to three towing cars, so control (against illegal parking) in the area could run smooth
Head of West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department Monitoring and Control Section, Imam Slamet, said his department highly supports Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama’s plan to impose tow and fine sanctions to illegal parking actors.
“Of course we support it. Moreover, tire valves removal and ticket sanctions seem to less causing wary effect,” he stated, Thursday (9/4).
Public Transport Base in Pasar Minggu Makes Traffic ChaoticTo make tow and fine sanctions effective in West Jakarta, Slamet hopes Jakarta Provincial Government would give additional towing cars.
“At this time, we only have one towing car. Whereas, ideally there should be two to three towing cars, so control (against illegal parking) in the area could run smooth,” he uttered.
About illegal parking locations in West Jakarta, Slamet told that it is rampant along Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Kyai Tapa, around Kota (Beos) Station, Tamansari, Pagi Asemka Market, Grogol, and Tambora.
