19 Pumps Alerted in Central Jakarta to Anticipate Inundation

The Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency ensures 19 pumps placed in four underpasses are ready to be used to overcome the inundation during the rainy season.

Those four underpasses are Senen Underpass, Angkasa Underpass, Dukuh Atas Underpass and Matraman Underpass.

"Based on the results of routine and periodic checks, the condition of 19 pumps is in good condition," said Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head Rakim Sastranegara, Wednesday (10/9).

Council Expects City to Intensify Inundation and Flood Prevention Work

In details, the Senen Underpass has four pumps with a capacity of 100 liters per second, Angkasa Underpass has four pumps with a capacity of 100 liters per second and two other pumps have a capacity of 250 liters per second.

To anticipate inundation in Dukuh Atas Underpass, six pumps are alerted in which three pumps have a capacity of 250 liters per second, one pump with 210 liters per second capacity and two pumps with 100 liters per second capacity.

As for the Matraman Underpass, there are five pumps, with details three pumps has a capacity of 130 liters per second and two other pumps with 14.7 liters per second capacity.

Six personnel are alerted in each pump house. They are divided into two shifts," he closed.
