The North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency is speeding up the 700-meter long water channel normalization at Jalan Tipar, Sukapura, Cilincing. The work progress has reached 30 percent.

Cilincing Sub-district Water Resources Executing Unit Head Sarkam stated this normalization includes channel widening up to 80 centimeters.

"Previously the channel wide was varied, from 20 to 40 centimeters. There are even no channels," he told, Thursday (10/10).

To support the work, his side has deployed 30 workers to the work location that has been conducted since September.

All this time, the residential areas around Jalan Tipar are often flooded during heavy rains due to inadequate canal conditions.

"The top of the channel will be installed with a manhole cover. Predictably we finish it by the end of November," he said.
