Wood Factory in Kalideres Burned

A wood processing factory belongs to PT Uni Traco on Jalan Daan Mogot, KM 16, Semanan Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District, West Jakarta, was burned this morning, Tuesday (9/9). Fire was first seen coming at 8.30 AM from beam drying oven room.

“We don’t know the cause of fire. Fire just suddenly flaming in the oven room which tightly closed and quickly burning those wood beams,” said Triono (25), one of the factory employees.

To extinguish the fire, Triono told that he and other employees flushed the fire using water from the tap. However, their efforts were useless.

A Helmet Factory Burned, Killed One

“Wood beams drying in the oven room was done by steamed them, and usually dry in a week. Thus, we’re having trouble to extinguish the fire,” he uttered.

According to Had of West Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department Operational Section, Abdul Wahid, as many as 18 fire trucks were deployed to the location.

“The cause of fire is still unknown. Until now the firemen are still trying to extinguish the fire. Thick smoke inside the room makes the firemen having difficulties to find the fire core,” he stated.
