Council Supports Disdik’s Proposal to Renovate 206 Schools

The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Commission E supports the Education Agency (Disdik)'s proposal to renovate 206 schools during the discussion of the 2020 budget priorities and preliminary threshold (KUA-PPAS).

Jakarta DPRD's Commission E Chairman Imam Satria revealed it must be a priority as it impacts on the quality of student education.

"Budget efficiency shouldn't have an impact on improving the quality of education. That's why the council supports the proposal," he asserted, during a follow-up discussion on the 2020 KUA-PPAS with the Education Agency, Thursday (10/31).

Commission B Agrees to Increase Budget for Optimal SME Marketing

Jakarta Education Agency Acting Head Syefulloh said the renovation for 206 schools are divided into some levels, starting from total renovation is for 86 schools and heavy renovation is for 120 schools. The total budget proposed is Rp 2.41 trillion.

"The agency will handle total renovation and the sub-agency will handle medium and heavy renovation," he expressed.

He explained the budget required depends on the level of damage to the building and its land. "The larger buildings constructed have an impact on the budget allocation for one school building," he concluded.
