Liquor Party in Car Ends Up Accident, 4 Critical, 1 in ICU

A Daihatsu Terios car B 1294 SIM hit TransJakarta bus lane separator and flipped over on Jalan Matraman Raya, East Jakarta, Friday (9/12) morning. Because of this accident, three people are injured and four others are in critical conditions. They are all now under treatment in Premier Jatinegara Hospital.

According to Reffa (28), the car owner, he and six friends were just having liquor party in Kota area, West Jakarta. But since they felt it was not enough, they continued the party in the car at around 4 AM.

Afterwards, they headed home in Pasar Rumput, Manggarai, South Jakarta. But when the car got in front of a Catholic Church on Jalan Matraman near Slamet Riyadi TransJakarta Bus Stop, East Jakarta, Rival (27), the car driver, hit the TransJakarta bus lane separator.

Brake Failure, Metromini Hit Biker and a Car

Inevitably, the car flipped over and wrecked. All of its front and side windows are broken, and seven people inside the car are injured. Besides Reffa and Rival, the car passengers are Fery (28), Reffa (28), Rio (27), Usib (29), Anto (27), and Radi (28).

“There was a car running in speed and overtook (my car). Due to surprised, my friend swerved to the right, hit the (road) separator, and (the car) flipped over,” uttered Reffa.

On the other hand, Bripka Sugiyono, member of Matraman Sector Police Traffic Accident Unit, suspected this accident happened because of the liquor drank by Reffa and friends. He thinks so because when they were interrogated, the aroma of pungent liquor smelled from their mouths.

“This case is handled by East Jakarta Police Resort Traffic Unit. As for the wrecked car, it has been towed to East Jakarta Traffic Unit Police Station in Kebon Nanas,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Premier Jatinegara Hospital spokesman, Sukendar, said that the wounds suffered by Rival are quite severe. Thus, he had to be treated in ICU.

“He had to be treated in ICU because his head bleeds a lot and his neck is broken,” he explained.
