Heroes' Day, ASN is Demanded to Mean Struggle with Real Work

We arouse the spirit of today's heroes that can be done by all citizens of the nation

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, led the Heroes' Day ceremony which was held at Silang Monas Field, Sunday (10/11). The ceremony was attended by ranks of SKPD, thousands of Forkompinda ASN ranks, mass organization representatives and veterans.

He began his remarks by describing a narrative from the Social Minister Juliari P. Batubara about the concept of today's heroes.

"We arouse the spirit of today's heroes that can be done by all citizens of the nation. In the past, the spirit of the hero was shown by fighting to drive out the invaders, but now we can make the nation proud in the eyes of the world," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He then emphasized the Jakarta Provincial Government ranks to interpret the word hero through their struggle to defend Indonesian independence. Considering, in the past, the heroes who fought in Surabaya had given their lives for this nation.

"The hero title is a label that arises because of acts of work that are concerned with the community, nation and state above personal interests. I'm mandating that we must take the wisdom," he explained.

This must be applied to the lives of the ASN through various works to solve the problems of Jakarta people.

"Our task now is to carry out the mandate as well as possible to resolve all problems in our society," he stated.

In order to respect the services of heroes, the city provides convenience for veterans, pioneers of independence, to those who have served the nation, one of which frees the urban and rural land and building tax (PBB-P2).

"Thus they are not driven away from their homes whose taxes continue to rise, this is a form of our respect, by lightening their burden," he said.
