PT Transjakarta Opens Opportunity for New Operators

PT Transjakarta, as the caretaker of TransJakarta bus, is opening opportunity to bus operators that interested to join in and operate TransJakarta bus fleets. But before that, they must first meet the requirements set, which one of them is having trajectory permit.

For example, in a corridor there are 1,000 operators, so it’s 50 percent for old operators and 50 percent for new operators,” stated Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, M Akbar, Friday (9/12).
According to Akbar, the old TransJakarta bus operators will be picked from direct appointment. While for the new operators, they will be selected through auction mechanism. Both old and new operators must fulfill the requirements determined by PT Transjakarta, such as bus quality, technical service, etc.

Besides determined requirements, Akbar also told that all TransJakarta bus operators must meet the Minimum Service Standards (SPM), in which operators have to arrange bus performance and headway between buses. In addition, the procurement of new TransJakarta buses is currently in auction process.
“Hopefully the contract signing could be done sometime soon. Next year, there would be about 600 new TransJakarta buses,” informed Akbar.
