This does not mean there will be no additional buses in the next year
Jakarta Provincial Government will cross out bus purchases in the 2014 City Budget (APBD).
"This does not mean there will be no additional buses in the next year," said Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, Monday (7/7).
This Year, Transjakarta Bus Procurement CancelledBasuki disclosed that additional Transjakarta bus will still be done by cooperating with private operators and PT Transjakarta. That is why, the bus procurement is no longer budgeted in the 2014 APBD.
"We directly involve operator. If you can procure the bus fleet, I think you prefer to not use money than using money. The budget for bus purchases would be included to 2015 APBD in terms of the government investment participation (PMP) to PT Transjakarta management," he expressed.
Hence, his party is currently proposing the PMP for the regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) belongs to Jakarta government(PT Transjakarta) on the 2014 APBD amendment amounting to Rp 350 billion. The budget is only waiting for board's approval.
"We'll add more capital, and just wait for board's approval," he told.
He added that the bus purchases mechanisms handed over to the operator and PT Transjakarta which aims to anticipate corruption practice as corruption case over procurement of Transjakarta bus in 2013 which is currently being investigated by attorney general. Additionally, the procurement process in the private sector is faster than the government
"Then for time, we could do bus procurement faster if we cooperate with private side," he added.
