MRT Jakarta Tests Bicycle Lane on Gandaria Selatan

Board of directors and employees of PT. MRT Jakarta tested bicycle lane on phase II as long as one kilometers from SDN 01 Gandaria Selatan - Jalan RS Fatmawati Raya - Abuserin -Abuserin III - Teladan - and return to SDN 01 Gandaria Selatan.

PT. MRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head, Muhammad Kamaluddin stated, this is one of MRT Jakarta's support towards Jakarta Government's program to realize a bicycle-friendly city, as well as to socialize this cycling movement to elementary school students.

"In order to improve quality of life, we want to socialize cycling habit to elementary students thus they can be encouraged to go cycling from early age," he mentioned, Wednesday (11/20).

Moreover, his side also inaugurated bicycle parking at SDN 01 Gandaria Selatan. In the near future, his side plans to build bicycle parking in three other elementary schools that are located near MRT stations.

"With this parking, hopefully students can get used to ride bicycle," he mentioned.

SDN 01 Gandaria Selatan Headmaster, Surani explained, 70 of 100 students have already accustomed to use bicycle to school.

"This new and standardized bicycle parking is hope d to encourage more children to bike to school," she asserted.
