Grabbing Land, 200 Buildings in Sunter Dismantled

As many as 400 joint personnel of North Jakarta Satpol PP officers, Tanjung Priok Police, Transportation Sub-Department and SUb-District Military Command (Koramil) tore down 200 illegal buildings along Jalan Agung Barat I Block A3, RW 10, Sunter Agung Urban Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Monday (9/15). The demolishment is conducted because buildings have barged the land for green open space (RTH) construction.
Such land as long as 800 meters and 8 meters wide is planned to be made as a park. To realize it, the Agung Bara's connecting channel behind the RTH land will be normalized.

"Water overflowing will happen in our residential if rain pours down more than 30 minutes. Hopefully, it could be dredged as soon as possible," he stated.
Chief of Tanjung Priok Sub-District, EM Fiskal uttered before being demolished, his side has repeatedly held socialization in which the building owners asked to demolish their buildings and move to another place.
"Some had done demolishment towards their buildings. Yet we do not give compensation or relocation, because they already occupy the land for a dozen years," he expressed.
He explained that building owners have violated the bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order. If the condition is ignored, they (buildings) would minimize the existence of RTH and be susceptible to silting of Agung Barat connecting channels to Danau Sunter as wide as 5 meters.
Of the 200 buildings, some of them are used as business place, like used goods transaction, cigarette stalls, restaurants, car and motorcycle wash, taxi-motorcycle pool, welding workshop.
As for the information. the park land built in 1992 is a shelter of Sunter Market. Then after reform process in 1998, used goods and waste began to occupy the park.
