Ahok Will Visit South Korea This Thursday

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama is scheduled to visit South Korea on Thursday (9/18), in order to attend the ceremonial for host handover of the 2018 Asian Games, which will be held in Jakarta.

I've met Mr. John A Prasetio, ambassador to South Korea. I said to him that I have time to sign on the host handover for the 2018 Asian Games. He also promised to invite me visiting reclaimed island, street vendor places, and see Gangnam

The former Regent of East Belitung will also hold a blusukan (impromptu visit) in several locations in South Korea which can be emulated for urban development in the capital. Those locations are reclaimed island for agriculture land, street vendors arrangement until creative industries in Gangnam Sub-District.

He admitted he wanted to know the management of reclaimed island in South Korea which aims to add agricultural area. "Reclamation does not used for residential land, but also agricultural land. According to the study, if there is no reclamation in 2045, about 30 percent of people in the world would starve. Hence, South Korea has been discussed reclamation for agro," he explained.

Basuki asserted that Jakarta Provincial Government does not worry the housing developer uses reclaimed island on 17 new islands as wide as 51 hectares. This is because, 17 developers were asked to submit five percent of the total reclaimed land. "I ask for 5 percent of commercial land from reclamation results. If not, I will make similar thing like in Rotterdam. They (developers) have a deal and run their obligation now," he stressed.

He added such land would be used as agriculture and fisherman lands. "But, I want to see how the division in South Korea and I have instructed PT Jakpro to go to South Korea. But in fact, I was required to go there for the Asean Games," he uttered.
