LRT Becomes an Affordable Transport Choice

The operation of LRT Jakarta (Kelapa Gading - Rawamangun Velodrome) makes it more ease for public transport users to travel with affordable budget.

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission B Member, Ichwanul Muslimin assessed that LRT fare by Rp 5,000 per trip was a very affordable price.

" Jakarta Provincial Government injects subsidy to attract more people to use LRT as a comfort public transportation ," he stated, Wednesday (12/4).

LRT Jakarta Passengers Reach 7,000 Per Day

He explained that it was also deemed a better integration and public transportation connection in Jakarta. Thus, it should be socialized intensively.

"The more people comfort with it, the more people will use public transportation. Then hopefully, traffic congestion can continue to decrease," he stated.

According to him, Jakarta Government should provide one card that can be used for multi trip and one payment thus it can ease people to access public transportation.

"As a DKI legislator, I will evaluate and study the public service in Jakarta, especially public transportation to make Jakartans happier," he asserted.

After LRT is operating commercially with fare subsidy, the legislature would also check and try to take LRT.

"Since I am the new Legislator, I need to ensure the plan that has been conveyed to Legislature is implemented well," he said.

For information, LRT as the rail-based transportation in Jakarta has started to operate commercially on December 1. PT. LRT is targeting 14,000 passengers to use LRT per day.
