Today, LRT Jakarta is Officially Commercial

Each train has two cars with a capacity of 270 passengers. The trip time is only 15 minutes

The LRT Jakarta service officially imposes a fare of Rp 5,000 per trip to its passengers today, Sunday (12/1).

Since morning, at the Velodrome Station, Rawamangan, East Jakarta, hundreds of passengers seemed enthusiastic about trying out this mode of transportation.

One of LRT passengers, Benny (55) admitted he was happy, as Jakarta now has modern, fast and safe public transportation.

"Besides fast and safe, the train fare is also cheap," he expressed.

Maya (32), one of Rawamangun citizens added its existence adds to the favorite of public transportation for Jakarta people.

"Our hope is it can serve more people and parse traffic jam in the capital," he hoped.

PT LRT Operational Director Indarto Wibisono said, starting today or on December 1, it is commercial already and operates from 5.40 AM to 11.40 PM daily.

There are eight trains serving trajectories of the Velodrome Rawamangun Station - Pegangsaan Dua Station, Kelapa Gading.

"Each train has two cars with a capacity of 270 passengers. The trip time is only 15 minutes," he explained.

He added the payment process could be done in cash or non cash. Currently the company has collaborated with banks to issue electronic money cards such as Bank DKI, Bank Mandiri, BCA, BNI and BRI.
