Ragunan Zoo Prepares Masterplan of International-Class

Jakarta Provincial Government's plan to transform the Ragunan Zoo into an international-class zoo keeps being conducted. Thus far, the masterplan as well as improvement of facility and supporting management is also done gradually and targeted to finish 2015.

Head of Ragunan Zoo's Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD), Marsawitri Gumay disclosed masterplan is still under auction process for zoo renovation. This is because almost cages in Ragunan Zoo are outdated

"We're currently still making the masterplan to determine the new design of Ragunan Zoo," she stated, Saturday (9/20).

She uttered, total of renovation funds is a lot and will be taken from Jakarta City Budget (APBD). "We need trillion rupiah to renovate the zoo and is hoped to be done five years ahead," he uttered.

All this time, the zoo can reap subsidy about Rp 70 billion per year. Considering its entrance ticket is the cheapest in the world, which is only Rp 4,000 per person. Whereas, operational cost could reach Rp 12,500, thus large subsidy is needed. Each year, the funds needed for animals food reached Rp 12 billion.
