After asking a suitable name from the zoo visitors, the former Mayor of Central Jakarta finally decided to give name Lestari for the baby elephant. "I choose the name Lestari," expressed Saefullah, on the sidelines of Ragunan Zoo 150th Anniversary, in Ragunan, South Jakarta, Saturday (9/20).
He hopes the elephant can live longer. "I give name Lestari, because I want the elephant to stay healthy and live longer," he expected.
Head of Ragunan Zoo's Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD), Marsawitri Gumay said two baby elephants were born in the zoo at the end of last year. Both are male and female. "The male is given the name Pangeran by Forestry Minister, Zulkifli Hasan. He was born in October, while Lestari (female) born in December 2013," she explained.
