Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Department Head, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia expected this event can encourage visitors, especially Jakartans to preserve Indonesian cultures. Thus his side invited millenial generation to develop their creativity by holding similar events.
"Hopefully, many similar events could be held in the future thus more people could appreciate Indonesian cultures," he stated, Tuesday (1/28).
Jakarta Imlekan, Collaborative Event Between City and Jakartans to Show Culture Acculturation in JakartaMeanwhile, Jakarta's National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) Head, Taufan Bakri informed, this event is enliven with variety of traditional dances, fashion show, batik exhibition, bazaar, fundraising for flood victims, and talkshow. Total around 70 stalls filled the ground floor of Block G Building, City Hall.
"These millenial children are young entrepreneurs under our management. We collaborate and gather around 70 traders in here to grow economy in Jakarta," he mentioned.
One of the traders in this event, Veronica Indriyanti (53), the owner of Tenun Kenes admitted, her side joined this event because she wanted more people to know about woven fabric. Because nowadays, she assessed, number of woven fabric lovers is getting less.
"I sell woven fabric for 7 years. But only few people who like this type of fabric. Very disappointing, because woven fabric is a part of our culture that must be preserved," she expressed.
