Formalin Found in Rawa Buaya Market Fish-Meatball Products

I would be careful, than I have to deal with the authorities

Officers have detained three peddlers with initials Yoh (50), Ain (36), and Ana (36) when they were selling fish and meatball containing formalin in the Rawa Badak Market, North Jakarta. Fish and meatball are immediately seized by officers, and asks suspects to make an affidavit not to repeat similar action.

Head of Supervision and Control Section for North Jakarta Livestock, Fishery, and Marine Sub-Department, Muhammad Mikron disclosed from 240 samples from Rawa Badak, Koja, and Tugu Markets, formalin was detected in 5 fishes and 1 meatball.

Fish with Formalin Found in 4 Markets in North Jakarta

"In Koja and Tugu Markets, we didn't find formalin foods. But in Rawa Badak Market, we found it from two peddlers selling shrimp, pomfret, anchovy, tuna and meatball," he expressed, Tuesday (9/23).

Mikron uttered such fishes had been given formalin from its suppliers. Therefore, his side would conduct sweeping the fish supplier to Muara Baru area. While the investigation for fish balls containing formalin will be coordinated to the department. This is because, the meatball company is located in Cipinang Besar Utara Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

Ana, (36), admitted she did not know the meatballs are sold already contains formalin. She believes her product is safe, because has been labeled the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), and halal from the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI). 

Similar statement also came out from another fish peddler, Ain (36). She admitted she bought fish from the fist market in Muara Baru. "I would be careful, than I have to deal with the authorities," she stated.
