As many as 30 kilograms of tofu containing formalin were seized by Central Jakarta Husbandry and Agriculture Sub-Department officers who hold raid for two days at Petojo Ilir Market, Petojo Selatan Urban Village, Gambir Sub-District.

Head of Central Jakarta Husbandry and Agriculture Sub-Department Monitoring and Control Section, Sarjoni, stated that the raid was a routine held during fasting month of Ramadan to make sure the citizens are safety in consuming food.
“There are 30 kilograms of tofu seized, which worth about Rp 500 thousand. We’re also checking other groceries like chicken meat, beef, et cetera. But so far, we only found tofu that contained formalin,” he uttered, Tuesday (7/1).

“Tofu containing formalin is clearly different to tofu without formalin. Tofu containing formalin is usually hard and smells bad. Thus, the citizens must be selective in buying tofu and other groceries,” he said
