Regional Development Steering Commission Chairperson Decides to Allow Formula E in Monas

Jakarta Secretary, Saefullah appreciated Chairperson of the Medan Merdeka Regional Development Steering Commission who also acts as Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno for approving the Formula E event that has been scheduled to be held in Medan Merdeka and National Monument (Monas) area on June 6, 2020.

But, Alhamdulillah, yesterday afternoon he allowed us to hold it in Monas

"On behalf of Jakarta Government and Jakartans, we appreciate the decision of Medan Merdeka Regional Development Steering Commission because Formula E is permitted to be held at Monas," he conveyed, Tuesday (2/11).

According to him, Jakarta Government has prepared several alternative locations in case Formula E can't be held in Monas.

"One of our option is at Gelora Bung Karno. But, Alhamdulillah, yesterday afternoon he allowed us to hold it in Monas. The Minister of State Secretary as well as Medan Merdeka Regional Development Steering Commission gives us a permission to hold it in Medan Merdeka and Monas," he explained.

Related to this event, his side also refers to the Presidential Decree No. 25/1995 concerning Development of Medan Merdeka Area in Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

"Medan Merdeka area is divided into 3 zones and not all zones are used for Formula E," he added.

According to him, PT. Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) has been instructed to start preparing detailed infrastructure in the next few days. Jakarta Government will also cooperate with related sides to socialize Formula E event to the public.

"We will try our best to socialize it. During preparation, we hope you could understand and be patience. We are sorry if it causes your activity disrupted," he conveyed.

For information, permission to hold Formula E in Medan Merdeka and Monas is written in the letter Number B-3/KPPKKM/02/2020 and signed by Chairperson of the Medan Merdeka Regional Development Steering Commission, Pratikno.

It is the reply to the governor's letter Number 1056/-1.857.6 on December 16, 2019.

On the approval letter, Pratikno wants Formula E in Medan Merdeka and Monas to concern about these stuffs;

1. In planning the track construction, grand stand and other facilities must be carried out in accordance with statutory regulations, including Law (UU) No. 11/2010 regarding Cultural Heritage

2. Maintain the beauty, preservation of tree vegetation and environmental cleanliness in Medan Merdeka area;

3. Maintain the security and order around Medan Merdeka area

4. Involving the related agencies to avoid changes in function, environmental damage, and damage to cultural heritage in Medan Merdeka area.
