Street Vendors in Asemka Market to Be Relocated

West Jakarta Administration will soon demolish Asemka Market in Roa Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, because its condition is far from adequate. But before that, 300 street vendors in the market will be relocated to Perniagaan Market which located near Asemka Market.

Together with Tambora Sub-District apparatuses, we will record the data of street vendors who deserve to be relocated in Perniagaan Market

“The street vendors in Asemka Market will be relocated to Perniagaan Market. We have coordinated with PD Pasar Jaya about this plan,” stated Head of West Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Slamet Widodo, Saturday (9/27).

However, Widodo continued, not all street vendors in Asemka Market will be relocated. This is because the available area in Perniagaan Market is limited.

Pasar Asemka to Accomodate Fly Over Street Vendors

“Together with Tambora Sub-District apparatuses, we will record the data of street vendors who deserve to be relocated in Perniagaan Market,” he told.

Unfortunately, Widodo cannot confirm when the street vendors relocation to be carried out. The reason is because at this time West Jakarta Administration is still focused in arranging the street vendors in Kota Tua area.

Meanwhile, PD Pasar Jaya spokesman, Agus Lamun, said that Perniagaan Market has been prepared to accommodate hundreds of street vendors in Asemka Market.

“If Asemka Market traders wanted place in our market, we are ready to accommodate because we still have plenty of empty spaces,” he told.
