Street Vendors Occupied Jalan Teratai Raya Sidewalk

The problem of Street Vendors (PKL) in the city seemed endless. The matter seen on Jalan Teratai Putih, Malaka Jaya, East Jakarta, precisely in front of Perumnas Klender market. Those street vendors’ shanties closing all of sidewalks, and even some of the road occupied as bajaj parking area. As a result, pedestrians who want to cross the area are bothered.

Muryati (35), a pedestrian who crosses said, the existence of street vendors is very unsettling. She has to be very careful and looked behind every time crossing the area because she afraid to be grazed by motor vehicles, especially during rush hour.

“This street is always busy with private vehicles, and public vehicles accessing the bus terminal. Sidewalk is pedestrian right,” she complained, Tuesday (6/17).

50 Street Vendors in Kota Tua Controlled

Duren Sawit Sub-District head, Abu Bakar admitted, he will conduct raid to street vendors along the road. The existence of street vendors makes Jalan Teratai Putih jammed.

Abu Bakar said that he already  socializes to the street vendors there. His authority is focused to conduct PKL control along East Flood Channel (KBT) this time.

“We have to be focused on PKL control in East Flood Channel, because there are hundreds of them,” he said.

Abu Bakar Added, to conduct street vendors control along Teratai Putih road firstly needs coordination with Water Management of Public Works Sub-Department because all street vendors trading on sidewalks and water drains.
