Jokowi Declared Resign

President-elect Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo officially declared his resignation as Jakarta Governor in a plenary meeting at the City Council (DPRD) building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Thursday (10/2). He resigned because he will prepare himself for the president inauguration on October 20, 2014.

In that occasion, Jokowi read his resignation letter in front of council members and invited guests. Besides mentioned that the successes reached in the capital city are the results of cooperation of all parties participating in the development, he also conveyed his apologies to Jakarta residents and DPRD members.
“I apologized to all the people of Jakarta if there were unpleasant attitudes when I served as governor,” he stated.
Jokowi Sent Resignation Letter to DPRDAccording to Jokowi, his resignation refers to two letters which ratified by the General Election Commission (KPU) and Constitutional Court (MK).
“My resignation refers to the enactment of the president and vice-president that has been issued by the KPU, on the determination of the recapitulation result on the 2014 general election and in accordance to MK’s decision dated August 21, 2014. Thus, please for the executive to follow up my resignation proposal in accordance to the applicable laws and regulations,” he uttered.
Responding Jokowi’s request, DPRD Chairman Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, who led the plenary meeting, said that he will hold a plenary meeting on Monday (10/6) with the agenda on the delivery of the associated fractions opinion on Jokowi’s resignation.
“On Monday, October 6, 2014, we’ll hold plenary meeting of fractions’ opinions on Mr. Jokowi’s resignation as Jakarta Governor,” he announced while knocking the hammer to end the meeting.
